Weighbridge at Sydney Port

Dear GLN Members,

As you may be aware Sydney Port has installed weighbridges which are currently being tested.

As of 1st of July these weighbridges will be fully operational. Overweight containers will be directed to Container Freight Stations which are located within the Port. All overweight containers will be required to be unpacked/load altered in front or rear or have the container removed within the terminal and not permitted to be transported for major breaches.

After being weighed, containers which are overweight will be issued a ticket directing to either a CFS or back to loading bays where containers will be removed.

Sydney NSW Road weights for Container weight limits are as follows.

(i)	STANDARD TRAILER 20’/40’ not to exceed 26 tonne including tare of the empty container. (Therefore no more than 22T of cargo, distributed evenly throughout container).
(ii)	SIDELOADER 20/40 not to exceed 22 tonne including tare of the empty container,
(iii)	SIDELOADER 20/40 BETWEEN 22-26 TONNE including the container tare will be transported on standard trailer where side-loader will meet the truck & lift off on-site.

From here on in a signed container weight declaration will need to be provided to the transport company along with EDO’s if you know of any containers that are over these weights (mentioned above) or where the paperwork is incorrect..

Note that not all shipping lines add the tare/empty weight of the container/s on the “Bill of Lading” weights so quite often the weight on the bill of lading is the gross weight of the cargo only. So allowances MUST be made in these cases

Do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to discuss the above.

New sanctions on Iran won't effect prepared companies

Dear GLN Family,

all of us received an email signed by the GLN president at 16th of Feb., informing about Iran's current situation. While the purpose of the email was notification, it caused us problems. So Armin Shipping thought to give some explaination to make some complexities, clear.

The fact is there were new sanctions on Iran. They will effect everybody. But there's no need to panic. This is not our first sanction! Armin Shipping has been prepared for such situation. We're now multinational company and have our own companies in Bulgaria and Turkey. This will ease the fund transfer to/from Armin. However it been years that we transfer money from other countries.

So I want our partners to be sure that working with Iran might have risks but not working with Armin. Because if anything happens to our Iran office, there will be others to complete our obligations.

Regards,
